Online Lecture as part of the series "Poland and its language(s)"

The lecture will be devoted to the Kashubian language spoken in northern Poland, which has the status of a regional language. Particular consideration will be given to the origin and development of Kashubian, as well as its function and usage in various spheres of social life. Attention will also be paid to the phenomenon of the breakdown of the intergenerational transmission of the regional language in the Kashubian community as well as to the attempts to revive the endangered Kashubian. Presentation of the contemporary sociolinguistic situation in the northern Polish bilingual area will also cover the issue of the influence of Polish on Kashubian.

Im Rahmen der Online-Vortragsreihe "Polen und seine Sprache(n)" aus Jena ab dem Sommersemester 2021 Die ab dem Sommersemester stattfindende Online-Vortragsreihe "Polen und seine Sprache(n)" nimmt die Sprachenlandschaft Polens in Gegenwart und Geschichte in den Blick, deren Vielfalt in der Regel unberücksichtigt bleibt. Die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen dem (Standard-)Polnischen und seinen kleineren und größeren sprachlichen Nachbarn stehen ebenso im Zentrum wie soziopolitische Fragen der Sprachplanung, -förderung und -toleranz.
