JESH-UKRAINE EMERGENCY CALL
Due to the war in Ukraine, the Austrian Academy of Sciences is offering an emergency call for applications from Ukrainian researchers as part of its academic mobility programme “Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities” (JESH).
The aim of the special call JESH-Ukraine is to support Ukrainian scientists who had/have to leave their country in temporarily carrying out a scientific project at an Austrian research institution.
1. INFORMATION & CONDITIONS
Applications are invited from Ukrainian citizens who have completed their doctorate/PhD studies, and are affiliated as scientists or scholars with a university or non-university research institution in Ukraine.
All institutes and departments at Austrian public universities, at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and at any publicly funded basic research institution in Austria are eligible to act as host institutes for JESH-Ukraine.
EXTENT AND DURATION OF FUNDING
JESH-Ukraine covers the cost of living for a research stay of up to a maximum of 4 months (with the possibility of extension). Expenses are paid at a flat rate of EUR 2,700 per fellow per month. Other project-related expenses or overheads are not covered by this fellowship but may be covered by the host institution.
The JESH-Ukraine call is open until further notice.
The two steps involved in applying for a JESH-Ukraine fellowship are as follows:
- Preparation of application documents
- Submission of application documents
Applications must be written in English and must include the following documents:
- Project abstract (1 page) including general aims of the research project in Austria
- CV and list of publications
- Copy of the applicant's passport
- Statement by the host institution (support letter from an individual member of this institution) including an outline of the proposed cooperation (1 page)
Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis until further notice.
The completed documents must be uploaded using the online form. You will then receive a document that you will be required to sign, scan, and submit by email.
Fill in the online form and upload the documents as three PDF files:
- Project abstract
- CV and list of publications, copy of the applicant's passport
- Statement by the host institution
Upon receipt, your application will be checked to ensure that it is complete and thus complies with the formal criteria. You will receive an email confirmation once this initial review is complete.
The applications will be reviewed and evaluated in a fast-track review process by a selection committee from the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The decision to award the JESH fellowships will be based on the recommendation of this committee. The selection will take place as soon as possible. Applicants have no recourse to legal action.
