«Both Polish studies and the launch of the platform Pol-Int is a great idea and a timely one. Research on Poland is becoming more popular even at the non-academic level, thanks to the growing importance of Poland as a significant, though still mid-ranked, European partner. Information about Polish research (completed, on-going and planned) is a very important aspect of academic life, and encourages movement in a chosen topic or discipline. An important idea seems to me its interdisciplinarity, and I hope - as a member of the editorial board – to make it comparative. Without a wide comparative, especially at the European and regional context, analysis of Polish and Polish studies is very difficult.»

Prof. Markowski holds a degree in Sociology at the University of Warsaw, where he also gained a doctoral, while habilitated in political science at the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is currently director of the Center for the Study of Democracy at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities  and a director and PI of the Polish National Election Study at the  Institute of Political Studies of the Academy of Sciences. Previously, he was vice-rector of the Collegium Civitas. He is a member of the American Political Science Association and the European Consortium for Political Research. He is also a board member of the Stefan Batory Foundation. He is co-editor of political science and sociological journals, including the "European Journal of Political Research”, "Political Studies", "European Union Politics”, among other. He sits on the advisory board of the Center for Social Opinion Research (CBOS) as a representative of the Prime Minister. In 2011, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for "academic achievements".
