Science Night of Polish Studies
On December 11, 2015 young academics working on Poland-related topics presented their projects in the " Club of Polish Losers" in Berlin.
The "Open Mic" was a full success. 10 research projects were presented in an entertaining and understandable manner: dissertation projects and international scientific projects from different disciplines, such as art history, environmental science, political science, archeology and cultural studies. It was a very inspiring evening, which has joined the digital and the analogous world of science and brought many interested people closer to the area of Polish Studies – also some that are not directly connected with academia.
The event was part of the " 4th Night of Polish-German initiatives" and was hosted by the online platform Polish-Studies.Interdisciplinary (Pol-Int) and the Cultural Cooperative for Polish-German Initiatives.

For over a year Pol-Int – the online platform for international communication and scholarly information on Polish Studies – has been connecting and informing the academic community. On June 22, 2015 many scholars as well as representatives of our partner institutions and sponsors came together at the European University Viadrina, to celebrate the first anniversary of the Platform with us.

After the opening ceremony by the President of the University Prof. Alexander Wöll, the director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies – Prof. Dagmara Jajeśniak-Quast – thanked all our volunteer supporters of the platform. The work of our users, editors, and reviewers who fill our platform give it life and make it an important academic work tool.
In the lecture "Humanities 2.0 – research strategies and academic development in the digital age" Ph.D. Dobrochna Kałwa from the Historical Institute of Warsaw University showed not only interesting prospects for the academic practice in the digital age, but also paid special attention to issues affecting the future of collaborative academic work. She also highlighted the great opportunities of the digital humanities. To close the anniversary, Katharina Kinga Kowalski (Project Management Pol-Int) and Dorothea Traupe (editor-in-chief Pol-Int) explained the conception of some specific future plans for the strategic and technical development of the platform. Live music and flowers made the evening colorful and pleasant.

We would like to warmly thank again everyone for the support and best wishes.

The First „Pol-Int Sztamtysz“
The Pol-Int team would like to give the people "behind" Pol-Int a chance of getting to know each other in person. That's why we invite all editors and reviewers from the Polish-German border region (and of course all others who happen to be near Berlin by chance) to come to the first Pol-Int Meeting ("Sztamtysz") in the Polish-German bookshop " Buchbund" in Berlin on April 21st 2015 at 7pm. We hope to have these meetings twice a year in the future – hopefully also in Poland. We are looking forward to meeting you personally!
