Philip Earl Steele is an American historian based in Poland, in recent years specializing in the history of Christian Zionism. His latest paper—on the impact of George Eliot, Laurence Oliphant, and William Hechler on the coalescence of the first Zionist movement (Hovevei Zion)—was published this year by the University of Białystok. Steele's book on Christian Zionism is forthcoming.
