The Polish Studies Center (PSC) at Indiana University aims to maintain, shape, and enhance I.U.’s long-standing tradition of quality scholarship on Polish literature, art, music, history, society, politics, and related humanities and social science areas. The Center provides intellectual leadership and guidance at a national and institutional level in the domain of Polish Studies, and supports Polish related research around the world.
The study of Poland, its language, culture, and history, has been a part of Indiana University’s curriculum for decades. The PSC is part of the IU School of Global and International Studies (SGIS). In conjunction with the IU Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and the IU Russian and East European Institute (REEI), the PSC offers: Polish language training through the third-year level during the academic year and a summer intensive language program; a large collection of Polish materials to support dissertation and other advanced research; faculty and student exchange programs with Warsaw University and Jagiellonian University (Krakow); and courses about Poland and Eastern Europe in a variety of fields (history, literature, politics, anthropology).
